Copland: Duo for Flute and Piano

This performance features a free pre-concert lecture starting at 6:45 PM with Jan Krzywicki.

Canadian-born flutist Jeffrey Khaner has been Principal Flute of the Philadelphia since 1990. “A technician capable of etching each note in the most sweeping run, and of finding the shading for an expressive nod within the flow of these works” (Philadelphia Inquirer), he is known for his particular facility with contemporary music. PCMS commissions by Richard Wernick and James Primosch—both world premieres—highlight a program with longtime collaborator Charles Abramovic that also features works by Elliott Carter and Aaron Copland.
